The Hamilton County Parks Foundation believes all members of our community should enjoy the benefits of the great outdoors. This is why the Foundation, along with its supporters, has established a youth scholarship program.
The scholarship program gives families and organizations the opportunity to send a child to a Park District program or camp with financial assistance from the Foundation. By filling out a simple application, children under the age of 18 can take part in great learning experiences with Park District Naturalists, staff and volunteers. Opportunities include day camps, school and scout programs, hands-on activities and other activities.
Support continues to be given to local children and organizations, including a grant awarded to an elementary school that allow parents, teachers and students to attend a summer reading program aimed at getting the kids ready for school this fall. The scholarship program also gave a grant for a student to attend a summer camp this year. The student said it was the best camp ever and that he enjoyed everything canoeing, kayaking, exploring the wetlands and catching the biggest catfish.
Applications are available for individuals and groups who may be eligible. Those awarded a scholarship will receive 50% financial assistance from the Foundation and its supporters. Applications must be received seasonally to coincide with the GO Guide by March 10, June 10, September 10 and December 10.
